Jesus Ruiz Brignoni and Bienvenida “Nany” Colon, had entrepreneurial beginnings, both being descended from families dedicated to agriculture in Puerto Rico. Jesus began his formal career for the Government of Puerto Rico, while Bienvenida developed several businesses, some agricultural in nature, such as selling fresh farm eggs to the neighborhood. Eventually, in 1972 they decided to open Ofricentro, an office furniture and supply business. Keep in mind that Jesus still worked for the Government at this time.
The desire to achieve more in preparation for his retirement from Government moved Jesus to venture into the tourism industry.In 1990, Hotel El Faro, in the town of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico opened its doors. From then on, like the economy, the company has expanded and consolidated numerous times. IHP Hospitality Group now owns and operates four properties across the island. IHP Hospitality Group has a clear vision, believing and recognizing the importance of human capital and contributing to Puerto Rico.
IHP Hospitality are pioneers in urban hotel developments, which quickly gained market traction among locals and has attracted tourists internationally. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, the company manages franchises such as Marriott®, Best Western Hotel Collection®, as well as individual property hotels like Punta Borinquen Resort, and Hotel Parador el Faro located in the northern and western side of the island.
